The Alpine Technologies Area comprises four clusters – sports & winterTECH, Wood & Technology, Construction, and Civil Protection & Alpine Safety – and brings together four economically flourishing sectors which are specific to South Tyrol:

• alpine timber resources
• top quality alpine construction
• pioneering technologies for winter sports
• technical solutions and products for civil protection and alpine safety

These are four highly interdependent areas, with enormous economic potential. The Alpine Technologies Area has the task of providing the interface between these different sectors with a constant stream of innovation, knowledge transfer and technology transfer, and of enabling potential, so that leading products and services can be developed by local enterprises collaborating in its core strength “Alpine Technologies”.

This strategy is in complete sympathy with the EU policy which seeks to promote alpine economic structures and habitats and to give ever-greater support to their multifunctional aspects. The EU development plan is especially relevant to Alpine Technologies.
